Charles Davis

Saxophonist and Composer

I started with the drums, but that didn’t stick, and then the piano, and that didn’t stick either. But later on, when I heard Charlie Parker, I think that that stuck. I mean, I heard him on records, you know. I was just reminiscing about when I first heard him, but I didn’t realize that I had heard him so early in life. Because he’d have an eight-bar solo or something like that and he’d tear up the house every time.
